1st stop

To Rosslyn Chapel

We venture east to enjoy the history and heritage of Edinburgh and the surrounding area. Experience the architectual wonder of Rosslyn Chapel, one of the most remarkable pieces of church architecture in Scotland. Built between 1446 and 1484, it has been described as a “Library in Stone” and since its construction began it has evoked wonder and surprise with the beauty and intricacy of its stonework. More recently, the chapel was made famous by Dan Brown's book 'The Da Vinci Code'.

2nd stop

Edinburgh Castle

We make our way to spectacular Edinburgh Castle. Perched on an extinct volcano, this historic fortress which dominates the skyline of the city of Edinburgh. This is one of Scotland's most important castles and has a complex building history. The oldest part, St Margaret's Chapel, dates from the 12th century; the Great Hall was erected by James IV around 1510; and the Half Moon Battery by the Regent Morton in the late 16th century. The castle houses the Honours, or Crown Jewels, of Scotland, the Stone of Destiny, the famous 15th century gun Mons Meg, the One O' Clock Gun and the National War Museum of Scotland.

3rd stop

The Royal Mile

You can now enjoy some free-time in the heart of Scotland's historic capital. The Royal Mile runs through the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town, connecting the magnificent Edinburgh Castle, perched high on a base of volcanic rock, with the splendorous Palace of Holyroodhouse, resting in the shadow of Arthur's Seat. Once a medieval market street and site for public executions, the Royal Mile is now a vibrant area buzzing with lively drinking spots and eclectic shops. Its spendid medieval architecture and dynamic atmosphere make it one of the city’s most-loved areas.

4th stop

Return to Cruise Ship

The return journey takes us through the neat and ordered grid of the New Town and provides an elegant contrast to the labyrinthine design of the Old Town. Catch a glimpse of how the city's upper classes lived in the 18th century.
